It’s taken me a while to put it down on paper. Partly because it felt like some part of me will be dying once I start to write this down or that the most perfect day of my life will now begin to fade. It is a memory I want to hang on to forever but then I remember, it was because some women had shared their stories with me that I had a fire burning inside that felt and still feels like it reached into my soul and changed and challenged all my ideas.
So here it is...the Free birth of Uma Grace Sady.
Freebirth which is also called Unassisted childbirth is where an informed woman chooses to give birth with no medical care. This is what I finally came to choose for the birth of my second daughter who was born at home, into my husband's hands. ‘Finally’ being the key word here, as this was really not I was thinking from the beginning but as time went by and as I read and became more and more informed, it became clear what I wanted.
She was born in water and we found out just as she was coming out that she was breech (in lay mans terms, bum first) and I went with the flow anyway. It was magical, it was awe-inspiring and it was one of the most wonderful moments of my life!
